Notes on the arrangement:
For me as an arranger, to arrange a symphony for four saxophones is not merely a reduction, but a different angle. Seen in this light, as a listener as well as a performer you have to part with the original - it has become a new piece.
Notation:
I have mostly followed Beethoven's guidelines. Changes in phrasing have technical and tonal reasons. In principle, the performance practice of the epoch of 'First Viennese School' is to be applied. Notes with an octave mark can be played loco or one octave higher. Possible cuts are marked as vi- -de.
This arrangement was made for the anniversary '250 Years Ludwig van Beethoven' and should have been premiered on 18 May 2020. Due to a pandemic (Covid-19 - illness caused by SARS-CoV-2 'Coronavirus') this premiere was postponed indefinitely.

Hinweise zum Arrangement:
Eine Symphonie für vier Saxophone zu bearbeiten stellt für mich als Arrangeur keine Reduktion, sondern eine andere Sichtweise dar. So gesehen muss man sich sowohl als Zuhörer als auch als Interpret vom Original trennen – es ist ein neues Stück geworden.
Notation:
Ich habe mich meist an Beethovens Vorgaben gehalten. Änderungen in der Phrasierung haben spieltechnische und klangliche Gründe. Prinzipiell ist die Aufführungspraxis der Epoche der 'Wiener Klassik' anzuwenden. Noten, die mit einem Oktavzeichen versehen sind, können sowohl loco oder eine Oktave höher gespielt werden. Mögliche Sprünge sind mit vi- -de gekennzeichnet. Dieses Arrangement entstand für das Jubiläum '250 Jahre Ludwig van Beethoven' und hätte am 18. Mai 2020 uraufgeführt werden sollen. Aufgrund einer Pandemie (Covid-19 – Erkrankung durch SARS-CoV-2 'Coronavirus') wurde diese Uraufführung auf unbestimmte Zeit verschoben.
